Ilona G. is a creative and soulful artist whose journey into fashion began as a form of escape and expression. From a young age, she immersed herself in different art forms such as dance, music, and visual art before finding her truest medium in fashion.
Her earliest inspiration came from her mother, fondly known as “Pattern Nwaanyi” for her grace, skill, and ability to create clothing that fit just right. Growing up, Ilona spent countless after school hours in her mother’s fashion workshop at Ogbete Main Market in Enugu State, where she fell in love with the transformative process of turning plain fabric into elegant, well-tailored clothing.
Though she pursued a degree in Information Science and held leadership roles in the corporate world, her heart never strayed from fashion. Starting with her mother’s old butterfly machine in the family’s living room, she honed her craft through relentless practice, advanced training, and fashion business studies preparing her for what FUBI would become.
What began as a safe space of self-expression evolved into a purposeful career. With dedication, she mastered design and garment construction to an advanced level, creating FUBI as a platform to serve women, particularly those often underserved in society. She finds joy in designing timeless pieces that empower women to navigate their everyday lives with confidence, elegance, and authenticity as they pursue their unique goals.
Today, Ilona channels her heritage, resilience, and vision into FUBI: a brand that celebrates femininity, culture, and the art of becoming.
